WHAT'S NEW
Shuttle Bus to the “Submerged Forest” of Lake Shirakawa (Akayu Station ↔ Lake Shirakawa) | May 2 – May 5
A special shuttle bus service will operate from May 2 to May 5, providing convenient access to the mystical scenery of the Submerged Forest of Shirakawa Lake.
This breathtaking natural phenomenon, often described as a “miracle landscape” of Yamagata, can only be seen in spring. During this limited season, a shuttle bus will run from Akayu Station to the site.
What is the Submerged Forest of Shirakawa Lake?
As spring arrives, melting snow increases the water level of Shirakawa Lake in Iide Town, causing the surrounding trees to become partially submerged. The result is a magical landscape where trees appear to float on the water’s surface.
The tranquil and otherworldly beauty of this submerged forest creates an unforgettable experience, attracting visitors not only from across Japan but also from around the world.
Don’t miss this limited-time opportunity to witness one of Japan’s most enchanting spring landscapes.
