About Kumano Taisha
Located in Miyauchi, Nanyo City, Yamagata Prefecture, Kumano Taisha boasts over 1,200 years of history. It is one of the Three Great Kumano Shrines of Japan and is often referred to as the “Ise of the Tohoku region.” Known widely as a god of matchmaking, it is a spiritually significant site.

At this prestigious shrine, you’ll wear authentic miko garments and serve in sacred areas usually off-limits to the public. It’s a rare opportunity to experience traditional rituals and connect deeply with Japanese spirituality.
